无需注册或登记，只要登录http://ocw.mit.edu/ 网站就可以免费获得美国麻省理工学院公开课程材料(MIT OCW)。到今年9月底有500门课程发布成为公开课程材料，到2007年将会发布1800门课程，这几乎是麻省理工学院所教授的所有课程。公开课程材料包括麻省理工学院中建筑和规划学院﹑工程学院﹑人文﹑艺术和社会科学学院﹑斯隆管理学院以及理学院5个学院所教的课程，涉及约30门不同的学科。所有课程都有教程大纲﹑课程的日期安排和讲课记录。许多课程还有作业﹑试卷﹑问题（包括解答）﹑实验室﹑项目﹑超文本的课本﹑模拟﹑演示﹑辅导和讲课的视频实况等。公开课程材料不是远程教育项目，也不是“e-learning”学习系统，不授予任何学分或学位。
